Professional Office Building

The Professional Office Building is an adaptive reuse of an eight-story high-rise within the St. Vincent Medical Campus, just northeast of MacArthur Park. Once a vacant office tower, the building is being reimagined into 172 units of permanent supportive housing through public funding from Homekey+, transforming an underutilized urban asset into a vital community resource.

The project includes a full interior demolition of all non-structural elements—retaining only the vertical cores—to make way for new residential spaces designed for stability, dignity, and long-term support. The conversion from commercial to residential use also necessitates a seismic retrofit of the concrete structure, originally permitted in 1979, ensuring both safety and resilience for its future residents.
