Located along Crenshaw Boulevard in the Hyde Park neighborhood, The Depot at Hyde Park is a five-story, 43-unit permanent supportive housing community providing homes for families, individuals, and survivors of domestic violence, including those who have experienced chronic homelessness. The project addresses two of Los Angeles’ most urgent challenges—affordable housing and support for vulnerable populations—through dignified, design-driven architecture.
Drawing inspiration from Hyde Park’s origins as a planned town centered around a Santa Fe Railway station, the design celebrates the area’s transit legacy. A pleated façade of alternating colors evokes movement along Crenshaw Boulevard, while a large station-style clock and platform-like entry deck reference the site’s historic roots.
On axis with 66th Street, a double-height entry plaza connects to the courtyard and resident garden above, fostering community and engagement.
